AZALEA RENFIELD

PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD

FOUNDER AND FORMER EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Azalea Renfield is the Former Founder and Executive Director and current Board Member of United Educators Association for Affordable Housing, INC (UEAAH). Azalea is responsible for the strategic direction of UEAAH and oversees all areas of the company including policy, grant development, programs and services, asset management and partnerships. Azalea had the honor of being selected as a recipient of the University of California, Washington Center (UCDC) Academic Program in our Nation’s Capital-Washington, D.C.

COLLEEN BUGANSKI

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Education is the single most important catalyst in Colleen's life, so joining UEAAH as President of the Board gives her the opportunity to pay it forward. Previously, she has volunteered as the Director of Community Relations for a Twin Cities based charitable beer company. Colleen moved to San Francisco 8 years ago when she accepted a job with the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. She completed her undergrad and graduate degrees while working as a full time administrative professional. A certified volunteer mediator with Community Boards of San Francisco, Colleen believes effective and honest communication gives advocacy its power. She also believes the mission of UEAAH is reasonable, attainable and imperative to the future of the public educational system.

KATE GLASSMAN

SENIOR PUBLIC POLICY CONSULTANT

Kate Glassman began her career working as a third grade teacher in a Title I-funded school in Charlotte, North Carolina, which fueled her passion for educational equity. Seeking to learn as much as possible about successful models of public K-12 education, Kate spent 15 months working for the Ministry of Education of Singapore as a high school argumentative writing teacher. During her time as a graduate student, Kate partnered with UEAAH to analyze state-level policy options to increase access to housing for K-12 teachers in California's coastal metropolitan school districts. Kate continues to work with UEAAH on various consulting projects, as she is dedicated to researching, promoting, and designing evidence-based social policies that support public school communities.

ERIN KELLERHALS

BOARD MEMBER

Erin is passionate about access to education and has served in various roles in higher education in the Bay Area for more than ten years. She has worked at the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley as well as Stanford’s Graduate School of Business. She earned her Bachelor degree in Literature at Scripps College and her Master degree in German at Stanford University. She has served on the Board of Trustees for the Consortium for Graduate Study in Management, the Business School Advisory Council for Educational Testing Service, the Haas Alumni Diversity Council, the Equity Advisory Committee for the San Francisco Human Rights Commission, the Board of Directors for C.E.O. Women, the Planning Committee for the Northern California Forum for Diversity in Graduate Education, the 2014 GMAC Annual Conference Advisory Group, and the Development Board of Special Olympics Southern California.

TIM TANDUN

 BOARD TREASURER

A native of the Bay Area, Timothy Tandun, is a UC Berkeley graduate with an Bachelor of Science degree from the Haas School of Business. Timothy is currently a Financial Analyst at ATEL Capital Group. He joined UEAAH because he wants to give back to the people that helped him get where he is today. Timothy believes that teachers should be able to focus on educating students without worrying about their housing situation.

JENNIFER SALERNO

 BOARD MEMBER

Jennifer Salerno is the Director of a workforce development program for at-risk youth at Urban Services, the social services branch of the YMCA. In her role as director of the Empowerment to Employment program, she is focused on providing transitional age youth, ages 18-24, with the tools required to obtain and retain sustainable employment. As a former at-risk youth, Jennifer personally understands the challenges that coincide with finding and maintaining a job that provides a living wage. 
Jennifer has a Bachelor degree in Political Science from the University of San Francisco and a Master degree in Human Rights Education from the same institution. She is passionately committed to promoting education as a human right and believes strongly in the philosophy that human rights education can be practiced anywhere, whether it be in a traditional classroom setting or in the community.

DR. KARLA M. PRINCE-CHENG, ED.D.

 BOARD MEMBER

Karla has 20+ years combined experience in public and private sectors. Currently, she engages with and supports government officials, C-Level executives, and non-profit organizations. Karla has also held positions that directly worked with and served teachers, young children, and their families. Her passion is for ensuring equal access to education for all. She believes, “You cannot operate an education system without teachers. Therefore, advocating for affordable housing for teachers ensures that our education system continues to operate uninterrupted.”
Karla earned her Doctorate degree in Education, with an emphasis on Organizational Change and Leadership, from the University of Southern California; a Master of Science degree in Education, with an emphasis on Technology Leadership, from California State University, East Bay; a Montessori Teaching Credential in Early Childhood Education from Montessori Teacher Education Center, San Francisco Bay Area and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, with a minor in Criminal Justice Administration, from San Jose State University.

ATALIE CHAN

ADVISORY BOARD MEMBER

With over 5 years of experience working in higher education, Atalie is passionate about supporting educators, especially in the Bay Area where she was born and raised. Atalie obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Economics from University of California, Irvine and recently earned her Master of Public Affairs from University of San Francisco. Being the first in her family to graduate from college, she believes that education is key to helping communities and its members thrive. Atalie currently lives in San Francisco and works at University of California, Berkeley.

DANIELLE POLLACK

ADVISORY BOARD MEMBER

Danielle Pollack is a Bay Area native and understands the needs of the housing market.  She joined the Board of Directors with UEAAH in 2014 after seeing what a worthwhile cause this was. It aligned with her personal respect and admiration for teachers, and understanding for the struggles they face of pay vs. housing prices in the Bay Area.   Danielle strives to use her industry experience to influence and educate about programs and offerings that are available to teachers. With over 25 years in the banking/lending arena in Northern California, she is the Area Manager for Northern California for W.J. Bradley Mortgage. Prior to, she worked for Citibank and Wells Fargo. Danielle graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an Honors Concentration in Financial Services and a Minor in Economics from Saint Mary’s College in Moraga.

AUSTIN COOK

ADVISORY BOARD MEMBER

Born in San Francisco, but raised in Brentwood, CA, Austin returned to the city to attend San Francisco State University, from which he will graduate in May 2015 with a B.A. in Broadcast and Electronic Communication Arts. Austin seeks to use his passion for video and audio production to advance causes such as social justice and educational reform, and hopes to see education become more accessible both for students and for educators.

FELY RODRIGUEZ

ADVISORY BOARD MEMBER

With over 35 years of experience in Administration, Property Management, and the Real Estate field, Fely is currently a dedicated full time Real Estate Consultant and offers an unique level of Real Estate expertise combined with an uncommon level of professionalism. She has participated in a variety of real estate contract transactions, including investment properties. She successfully completed the courses to receive the GRI (Graduate Realtor Institute) designation and Property Management certification. As an owner of residential and investment property, Fely has established relationships and local experience combined with coastal resources providing an unique advantage to her clients.
